Legal
Acceptable use policy. Your own systems, or ones you may use.
ZestSSH is a tool for reaching servers. This policy says what it may not be used for, and is part of the terms of service.
The rule
Use ZestSSH only on systems you own or have permission to access, only within that permission, and only lawfully. Do not use it, or ZestSSH Cloud, to harm anyone.
Other people’s systems
Do not use ZestSSH to:
- access, or try to access, a computer, account, network or data without the permission of whoever controls it, or beyond what they allowed;
- guess or stuff passwords, scan or probe systems you may not test, or get around a host’s authentication, firewall or monitoring;
- spread malware, run a botnet, mine cryptocurrency on systems that are not yours, or take part in a denial-of-service attack;
- break the law, infringe others’ rights, or help someone else do any of this.
Automation, broadcast to many hosts, port forwarding and the server monitor are powerful: point them only at systems you may use them on.
ZestSSH Cloud and our sites
Do not:
- attack, overload, scan or probe ZestSSH Cloud, zestssh.com or docs.zestssh.com, except as the disclosure policy allows;
- get around a rate limit, a plan’s limit (such as Juiced’s device limit), a license check or a team’s rules, for example by making many accounts or rotating addresses;
- share one personal license or one account among several people, or resell ZestSSH Cloud;
- use ZestSSH Cloud to store or distribute anything that is not part of using ZestSSH, or anything illegal. We cannot read your vault, but you remain responsible for what you put in it;
- interfere with other people’s use of ZestSSH, or try to reach their data.
Teams and invitations
Do not:
- send invitations to people who did not ask for them, or use invitations or invite codes to advertise, spam or deceive;
- pose as an organization you do not belong to, or claim a domain you do not control;
- turn on activity records or session logs for members without the lawful basis and notice the law requires where you are;
- use a team to get around another team’s rules, or keep access you were meant to lose.
Reports, tickets and the community
Bug reports, suggestions, support tickets and our Discord are for ZestSSH. Do not use them to spam, harass, threaten or deceive anyone, to post others’ personal information or secrets, or to post illegal content. Do not get around their limits (a few reports an hour per account and per address).
Security research
Good-faith security research on ZestSSH is welcome when it follows the disclosure policy: your own accounts and data only, no harm to others or to the service, and a report to us first. Research that follows it is not a breach of this policy.
What happens
When we find or are told of a breach of this policy, we act in proportion to it. We may:
- warn you, and ask you to stop;
- slow or refuse requests, block an account from sending reports or tickets, or remove a post;
- suspend or close the account, its access to ZestSSH Cloud, or a team, under section 19 of the terms;
- keep what we need as evidence, and report illegal activity to the authorities where the law requires or allows.
Where we can, we tell you what we did and why, and you can ask us to reconsider by email. Ending access to our services does not remove the apps from your devices. Many limits are applied automatically by ZestSSH Cloud, and they pause requests for minutes, not for good.
Report abuse
If you believe ZestSSH or a ZestSSH account is being used against you or your systems, write to support@zestssh.com with what happened and when. We cannot see anyone’s SSH sessions, which go straight from their device to the host, so we cannot tell you what was done; we can act on accounts, teams and our own services.
